RACE RECAP | WORCS at Havasu
Lake Havasu City, Arizona |Worcs
The last round of WORCS offered a great turn out for spectators and racers. A long pit row of teams and support made for a great ending to the 2020 season. Cold weather and beautiful scenery was what everyone needed to close the year out on a high note. Purvines Racing did it with another championship.
Tyler Lynn was at it again two years in a row. Going into round 9 he just needed to qualify and finish the race, to earn the points necessary to win the Pro 2 Lites Championship. Thomas Dunn also finished a solid 5th place earning more seat time for 2021. Justin Seeds finished 1st in vet pro and unfortunately had a DNF in the pro race due to a knee injury that will not prevent him from racing next weekend. Sharon Mowell finished 4th women’s pro and Caitlyn Kurtz finishing a respectable 2nd in the women’s expert class.
In Tyler’s natural form, he wanted to win. He got off to a great start and lead most of the laps, but ended up finishing with a comfortable 2nd place to JP from PC Kawasaki. Though Tyler wanted to win the last race of the WORCS series, he played it smart knowing the end goal of why we are here racing.
In his words: “I got off to an almost dead last start but quickly made myself up to the top 3 within the first few corners. I get really comfortable on the bike and was feeling the flow early on. I found some good lines and made some passes and got into the lead and put on a charge to make a gap. I was having a blast racing in the sand was ready to finish the season put strong. After a quick pit Jake Alvarez had made his way around me I couldn’t keep it wheel to wheel the I wanted to but I was able to come into the finish with a second place and the Pro 2 lights championship! Super excited to end the year out with a championship. I’ve been working super hard and it’s definitely paying off, and to end my 250 pro years out with a championship make it just that much better. Honestly can’t thank the whole Purvines racing crew enough for everything they have done and excited for the future with them!
Congratulations to the entire Purvines team for a great showing in Havasu and can’t wait to see you back there again this weekend for the final rounds of NGPC Big6!
