TEAM KAL-GARD
RACES TO VICTORY AT TECATE SCORE SAN FELIPE 250
Simi Valley, CA - Considered the roughest of all the Baja Race courses, the San Felipe 250 features an endless terrain of bottomless sand, silt and continued whoops that run throughout the course. The world's toughest competitors gather each year from around the globe to test their skill, grit and determination in facing the grueling terrain that often turns the strongest of men into mush.
Amongst the competitors this year were 3 different factory teams from Honda as well as the Factory KTM and Factory Kawasaki teams. In all, more than 400 competitors gave all they had and put it all on the line in an attempt to finish first.
Amongst the many entries was Team Kal-Gard racing on the Honda CR450X in Class 30. This newly formed team Comprised of Luke Dobson, Jimmy O'Neal Jr., Jason Trubey, Gerard Rojas and Jim O'Neal Sr. hung it all out against veteran pros, worlds class racers and factory backed teams. When the dust settled, this privateer team accomplished the unthinkable, winning Class 30 and placing 3rd overall in the entire event. This overall finish was just behind two factory Honda teams and ahead of 3 other factory teams.
The Oldest rider of the Kal Gard team is veteran Jim O'Neal Sr. of Simi Valley, CA. With this win, Jim O'Neal has firmly established himself as the winningist racer in San Felipe history! Jim has taken part in this historic event every year for the last 22 years, since the inception of the San Felipe 250. Jim was once again the rider of record in multiple classes and helped to put his 50 class team 2nd in class with a 12th overall finish.
Special thanks to the Teams sponsors in allowing Team Kal Gard to win the Championship. Without your support, winning just wouldn't be possible.
